Our institution is seeking to recruit highly talented and dynamic professionals to fill the position of Housekeeping Attendant.

Reporting to the Head of Department (HOD) Housekeeping, the incumbent will be responsible for this position will maintain a clean, sanitary, comfortable and tidy environment within the hospital.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Service delivery
• Mop floors and wipe surfaces in all rooms within the hospital.
• Wipe, clean walls, ceilings, touchable electrical appliances, window guards, and remove cobwebs from the surfaces in the rooms.
• Remove and dispose of garbage as per public health and sanitation policies and practices of
the hospital.
• Draw window curtains, open and shut windows in hospital rooms, wards, offices in the hospital.
• Remove used bedding material, replace them.

Medical Supplies and Technology
• Maintaining inventory of linen and other instruments.
• Clean, sort, fold and store laundry as per the laundry SOP.
• Report any broken cleaning tools and equipment to your Supervisor for the appropriate maintenance action.
• Request for cleaning tools, equipment, and materials such as soap, detergents, and deodorants from the Supervisor.

Health Work force
• Attend and participate in continuous medical education.
• Participate in monthly evaluation and appraisal process.
• Attend professional trainings as internally targeted.
• Attend Work Improvement Meeting as defined in the department.
• Participate in all departmental meetings and trainings.

Health information system
• Use the system generated data for inventory tracking in the department.
• Prepare reports as requested by your departmental head.
• Document all activities in the Hygiene and Laundry as per the department’s needs.

Leadership and Governance.
• Attend departmental meetings.
• Participate in leadership and mentoring programs as guided by departmental head.
• Lead various sections of the department as directed by the head of department.
• Report any incidents to your supervisor for action.
• Adhere to guidelines set by the hospital

Qualifications

Key Qualifications, Experience, Skills, and Competencies

• Certificate or Diploma in Housekeeping, Hospitality or any equivalent course (Mandatory)
• K.C.S.E Certificate Experience
• Minimum of 1-2 years as a Steward
• Previous hospital experience is preferred but not essential.
• Ability to handle cleaning equipment
• Ability to work under pressure
• Ability to work odd hours and odd days

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position will be based in any of the hospital branches. This position will require to work rotating shifts of days, evenings or nights including weekends and public holidays.
