LABORATORY MANAGER
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the incumbent will support the hospital attain ISO 15189: 2012 accreditation and maintain the standards, participate in all managerial decisions, guide the operation of the laboratory ranging from selection of staff, purchase of equipment, quality assurance, quality control, safety, hours of operation, scheduling of staff, and utilization management
- Work with the hospital administration on planning, organizing and directing laboratory operations.
- Develop, implement and ensure adherence to and established laboratory procedures, manuals and standards for all tests done in the laboratory.
- Ensure that testing systems developed and used for each of the tests performed in the laboratory provide quality and accurate laboratory results for all aspects of test performance.
- Identify and appoint all referral laboratories in liaison with the procurement office and under the supervision of the Operations Manager.
- Ensure total compliance with all relevant safety and infection control policies and procedures by the hospital and all licensing and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure that the laboratory participates effectively in the quality assurance program of the hospital both internal and external.
- Define, implement, and monitor accepted standards of performance in quality control and quality assurance of the laboratory services.
- Ensure operations conform to Quality Management requirements and engage activities for continuous quality improvement
- Monitor, manage and report all occurrences and incidents happening in the laboratory department.
- Define, monitor and report laboratory Turnaround times for all tests and share regular reports for decision-making.
- Oversee laboratory referral process to ensure sample integrity is maintained all the time and results are not compromised.
- Support the laboratory to attain ISO 15189:2012 Accreditation.
- Registration Certificate and valid practicing license issued by KMLTTB.
- Experience in an ISO 15189:2012 accredited Laboratory.
- Certificate in computer application
- Bachelors Degree or Higher Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science and Technology or its equivalent
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences from an institution recognized by the KMLTTB
